Our new community investments in Virginia support local jobs and expand energy affordability.

For over a decade, Google has maintained a significant presence in Virginia, operating from its Reston office and supporting data centers across Loudoun and Prince William Counties. Today, the company is strengthening its ties to the Commonwealth through a series of strategic investments designed to bolster the local workforce and improve energy accessibility.

Empowering the Next Generation of Talent

To address the growing demand for skilled labor driven by infrastructure expansion, Google is partnering with the electrical training ALLIANCE (etA). By funding local apprenticeship facilities, the initiative aims to expand training capacity significantly.

  • Goal: Support an additional 2,741 apprentices by 2030.
  • Context: This effort aligns with a broader Google.org commitment to train over 300,000 skilled tradespeople nationwide.

Strengthening Energy Infrastructure and Affordability

As the company continues to scale its data center operations, it remains focused on grid reliability and community impact. Having already invested in over 500 megawatts of new energy capacity, Google is now turning its attention to household costs.

"We are launching a $15 million Energy Impact Fund to help drive down monthly utility bills for Virginians by funding critical community projects like home repairs, weatherization and energy-efficiency upgrades."

This dual-pronged approach ensures that as Virginia’s tech infrastructure grows, the local community benefits directly through job creation and reduced energy burdens.
