Firebird Launches CIS Region’s Largest AI Factory in Armenia

The global race to establish sovereign AI infrastructure has hit a significant milestone. Firebird, an emerging leader in AI cloud services, has officially inaugurated the largest AI factory in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region. Located in Armenia, this state-of-the-art computing hub leverages high-performance infrastructure from Dell Technologies and advanced accelerated computing power from NVIDIA.

The grand opening ceremony was marked by the presence of high-profile dignitaries, including Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinpian, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Zhaslan Madiyev, and David Allen, the U.S. chargé d’affaires, a.i. in Armenia.

Building Sovereign Intelligence

As AI becomes the backbone of the modern economy, nations are increasingly recognizing the need for localized computing capacity. Beyond merely accessing global services, countries require the infrastructure to develop, train, and deploy AI models tailored to their unique languages, industrial requirements, and national strategic priorities.

Firebird’s new facility serves as a critical resource for Armenia’s ecosystem, providing startups, academic institutions, public agencies, and enterprises with the raw compute power necessary to scale AI innovation domestically.

Scaling for the Future

Firebird has outlined an aggressive growth trajectory for its Armenian hub. By the conclusion of 2027, the company aims to deploy over 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell GPUs, supported by 300 megawatts of total infrastructure capacity. This massive expansion is designed to cement Armenia’s status as a premier destination for advanced computing and AI research.

To maintain operational efficiency at this scale, the facility utilizes the NVIDIA DSX platform. This codesigned system integrates networking, power, and cooling into a unified architecture. By optimizing the physical footprint, the factory can house up to 40% more GPUs, significantly increasing token production per dollar and maximizing the value of every megawatt consumed.

A Strategic Roadmap for the CIS

Firebird’s vision extends well beyond its initial Armenian site. With the backing of NVIDIA, the company is executing a 2-gigawatt infrastructure roadmap that will eventually span across Kazakhstan and other key markets. This expansion is bolstered by fresh investment from NVIDIA, following a previous capital injection from CoreWeave earlier this year.

Key Technical Partners

The rapid six-month deployment of the Hrazdan facility was made possible through strategic collaborations:

  • Schneider Electric: Provided critical power infrastructure, including medium- and low-voltage switchgear and three-phase uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
  • Vertiv: Delivered a sophisticated thermal management architecture, utilizing the iCOM CWM Chilled Water Manager to ensure cooling efficiency and responsiveness during high-intensity AI workloads.

Catalyzing Global and Local Innovation

The facility is already attracting interest from AI-native organizations. Perplexity has confirmed it is working with Firebird to leverage this high-performance infrastructure to power its AI agent platform and answer engine.

By integrating NVIDIA’s comprehensive AI factory platform—encompassing reference architecture, networking, and software—with Dell PowerEdge servers, Firebird is providing the tools necessary for local innovators to transform energy into intelligence. As this infrastructure comes online, it positions the CIS region as a burgeoning magnet for global tech companies and a launchpad for local developers to connect with the global AI economy.
