Amazon’s Bee launches two new personal AI devices, starting at $75

Since its acquisition by Amazon last year, the personal AI wearable manufacturer Bee has been relatively quiet—until now. On Thursday, the company officially unveiled its first wave of new hardware, marking a significant expansion of its product ecosystem. The launch includes the Bee Frontier, a versatile wearable, and the Bee Eclipse, a sleek, credit-card-sized device designed to attach magnetically to the back of a smartphone.

These new offerings signal an aggressive move by Amazon to capture the growing market for AI-powered productivity tools, positioning the brand to compete directly with existing players like Plaud and Pocket AI, but with a more accessible entry price.

Expanding the AI Wearable Ecosystem

The Bee Frontier serves as the successor to the original Bee wearable. Designed for flexibility, it can be worn on the wrist or pinned to clothing. It arrives in three distinct colorways: Onyx, Lavender, and Sage. Priced at $74.99, it significantly undercuts competitors like the $159 Plaud Note or the $129 Pocket AI.

The Bee Eclipse, priced at $99.99, targets users who prefer a more integrated mobile experience. This device snaps onto the back of a smartphone and is available in Silver, Midnight, Honey, and Blush.

"The core mission of the new Bee lineup is to leverage artificial intelligence to capture everyday conversations, ensuring users never lose track of vital information, action items, or key insights," the company stated.

Key Features and Functionality

Whether you are recording a lecture, documenting a medical consultation, or coordinating social plans, the devices are designed to turn raw audio into actionable data. For example, if a user discusses scheduling a meeting, the AI can automatically extract the date and time to generate a calendar invitation.

  • Free Tier: All devices include free conversation summaries and recaps, with 14 days of data retention.
  • Bee Pro Subscription: For $11.99 per month, users unlock unlimited summaries, advanced integrations with Amazon.com and Alexa+, and access to third-party apps.
  • Pro Perks: Subscribers also gain access to a personal chat assistant, daily memory digests, and specialized conversation templates.

Security and Privacy Architecture

A primary concern with AI recording devices is data privacy. To address this, Bee has implemented a private computing security architecture. Raw audio is processed in real-time and deleted immediately after the summary is generated.

Transcripts are protected by user-controlled encryption keys. According to the company, this ensures that even Amazon employees cannot access personal files unless the user explicitly chooses to share them. Furthermore, the optional Alexa Voice ID integration allows the device to recognize specific speakers, though users maintain full control to delete transcripts or summaries at any time.

Enhanced Connectivity and Hardware

The new Bee devices are designed to fit seamlessly into existing workflows. They offer deep integration with productivity staples like Gmail, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook, enabling the AI to draft emails or surface action items automatically. Users can also upload photos or sync with Apple’s HealthKit to incorporate wellness data into their daily insights.

Hardware Specifications:

  • Interface: Simplified single-button operation for power and recording.
  • Feedback: Integrated indicator light to signal when a conversation is being processed.
  • Durability: The Frontier model features IP67 water resistance.
  • Performance: Up to seven days of battery life, USB-C charging, and dual microphones equipped with advanced noise-filtering technology.

The company has also overhauled its companion mobile application and introduced a new desktop client to support the hardware. The Bee Frontier is available for purchase on Amazon starting today, with the Bee Eclipse expected to follow shortly. As the retail giant continues to integrate Bee into the broader Alexa ecosystem, these devices represent a bold step toward making ambient, AI-driven personal assistance a standard part of the consumer toolkit.
